WPCA EXTENDS AGREEMENT WITH CENTURY DOWNS

Calgary, Alberta - The World Professional Chuckwagon Association will continue to race at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino after a new agreement was confirmed last week.

The new agreement will make 2023 the 3rd year of WPCA racing at Century Downs. The original agreement began in 2019, however, due to Covid-19 restrictions, Century Downs was forced to cancel the scheduled races in 2020 and 2021. The WPCA returned to Century Downs in 2022 with Calgary Stampede Champion Kris Molle winning the show title and Layne MacGillivray capturing the World title.

The WPCA races at Century Downs will be the official World Final event of the 2023 WPCA season. The feature race is the $75,000.00 Championship on the final Sunday.

One key focus for the event in 2023 is to make positive adjustments to the seating layout and improve guest experiences. “We learned a lot from the past 2 championships we’ve hosted here at Century Downs thanks in part to the valuable constructive feedback from fans and sponsors alike” said GM Jackie Morrision“, "we have already started planning to ensure this years’ event provides an even better fan experience for everyone in attendance.”

Paul Ryneveld, former Century Downs Racetrack and Casino General Manager now General Manager with the WPCA, added: "The WPCA is extremely pleased to return to Century Downs for another year with the World Finals! We all believe that this event can grow further and be the pivotal stop on the circuit it is intended to be. Working with Century Downs under this partnership, the future is bright!”

The WPCA World Finals will be held August 23rd through August 27th. Early Bird General Admission Tickets will be on sale in February through showpass.com – don’t miss your chance to get your tickets at the best price possible!
