The First Annual Calgary Racing Festival is set to kick off on Sunday, August 6th and run until Saturday,
August 12th. This exciting week of events will welcome guests from all around the world, as the week will cap off with the first leg of the World Driving Championship.
Industry Day – Sunday, August 6th
To start the week off right, we’re bringing the horse industry together for Industry Day. Learn the different
aspects of horse racing from the experts themselves! Join us in the barns for small workshops from the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA), Horse Racing Alberta (HRA), Moore Equine, Performance Standardbred, and more! You’ll be able to ask all of your itching questions, and learn about what it actually takes to put on a race!
After you’re finished in the barns, join us for a fun day at the races! Order from our delicious new food trailer, The Starting Gate, listen to music on the Apron, order drinks from our outdoor bar and enjoy an exciting day at the races! Post time is 1:10PM.
Mid Summer Classic – Monday, August 7th
Join us for high-fashion and high-stakes on this holiday Monday! Dress to the nines in your suits and dresses, with hats and fascinators to match! Enjoy great food from our new food trailer, The Starting Gate, order drinks on the Apron, and enjoy a day at the races!The stakes are high, with purses ranging from $25,000 to $75,000! The tension will be high, the weather will be hot and the drinks will be cold!
Charity Bowling Tournament – Tuesday, August 8th
Polish your shoes and step up to the lane! The Calgary Racing Festival’s Charity Bowling Tournament is your chance to bowl while contributing to a great cause! The first hour will be regular bowling, where you can relax in Century Casino Calgary’s upgraded Bowling Centre. For the second hour, we’ll turn the lights down for an hour of Glow Bowling. Participants will also be able to enter their name for great raffle prizes. All proceeds will be going to Dreams Take Flight.

Charity Golf Tournament – Thursday, August 10th
How’s your swing? Test your skills on the green at our Charity Golf Tournament! Take this opportunity to talk industry with drivers and trainers from our track, and set your eye for a hole-in-one! All proceeds will be going to the Airdrie Women’s Shelter Campaign – Airdrie P.O.W.E.R.Spend the afternoon in the hot summer sun with cold drinks and great company, all while supporting a fantastic cause!

Charity Gala – Friday, August 11th
Wine and dine with that special someone at our Charity Gala. Join us for an evening of elegance, starting with a cocktail hour at 6:00PM. Meet all of the international drivers that will be racing in the World Driving Championship from 6:00PM to 7:00PM. Then, indulge in a delicious plated dinner, prepared by our Executive Chef. At 8:00PM, enjoy a keynote speech by Hayley Wickenheiser. Throughout the evening, enjoy a silent auction. Proceeds from the Charity Gala will be benefiting the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre!

World Driving Championship – Saturday, August 12th
This is the first time that a leg of the World Driving Championship will take place in Western Canada.The first leg of the World Driving Championship will feature an autograph session and meet and greet of the 11 participating drivers, a special parade from the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA), live entertainment, and an all-around good time at the races!
