Established in 2016, the Century Horse Racing Club has had the honour of owning a number of special horses over the years.
While some horses have since retired to a second career, gone on to become a broodmare, or continued their racing career, one horse in particular is up to something special.
Meet Zucchini!
"Zazu" was part of the Century Horse Racing Club in 2019, achieving a 12-2-4-1 record for the Club under trainer Craig Smith. Following his four year old campaign with us, he went on to race at both Century Mile and Assiniboia Downs for current owner Coralee Shantz, who previously groomed Zucchini during his duration with the Club.
So where is he now? This handsome guy can be found right back here at Century Mile! He is currently an equine instructor for the Olds College Racetrack Education Programs with the important job of teaching up-and-coming grooms and exercise riders the ins and outs of how to ride and maintain a racehorse...while also demanding carrots and attention of course.
