First Thoroughbred racehorses hit the Century Mile Racetrack

Horses Hit the Track for the First Time

Three Thoroughbred racehorses took to the track for the first time at Century Mile on Friday, October 26, 2018, and completed a full lap of the one-mile oval.

“The track surface is beautiful,” said exercise rider and part-time thoroughbred trainer Alivia Kettleson after galloping one of trainer Dale Saunders’ horses.  "The horse I galloped handled it nicely.”

Various horse racing organizations from across Alberta attending the milestone event, including the HBPA

Up to 800 Thoroughbreds will go through their daily training regimen when the stable area and track open for training in Spring of 2019.
