CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT FOR WORLD FINALS ANNOUNCED

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) and Century Downs Racetrack & Casino are pleased to announce the Championship format for the 2019 Century Downs World Finals August 21-25. 


With over $300,000.00 in awards and prize money on the line over 5 days along with the title of Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Champion, the 2019 World Chuckwagon Racing Finals will rank among the top 4 prestigious and paying events in Chuckwagon racing, joining the historical races at the Grande Prairie Stompede, Ponoka Stampede and Calgary Stampede. 


CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT 
The top 12 drivers in the WPCA point standings after the last tour stop prior to the Century Downs World Finals will qualify for the 4 day playoff round at Century Downs August 21-24. In 2019 Rocky Mountain House (August 15th - August 18th) is the last event for drivers to earn points to qualify for the Century Downs playoff. 


The 12 qualified drivers will race in the final 3 heats over the first 4 nights at Century Downs with their specific heat determined by their point standings going in. The 12 finalists will be under a playoff point system with points awarded based on daily running times and their playoff aggregate time. 


FINAL FOUR  
The 4 drivers with the most playoff points will advance to the Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Championship Dash on August 25th. 


CENTURY DOWNS “WINNERS' ZONE” CHAMPION
The 4 drivers in the Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Championship Dash will be racing for$50,000.00, a horse trailer valued at over $30,000.00, trophy buckles for both the winning driver and his 2 outriders and the prestige of being recognized as the inaugural Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Champion.


In addition to the championship race, every heat on Championship Sunday will be a dash for cash with a total of $60,000.00 paid out.  Over the 5 days all 36 WPCA drivers will also be competing for $125,000.00 in day monies which is awarded based on daily results. 

CENTURY DOWNS AGGREGATE WINNER
Of the 36 WPCA drivers competing, the driver with the best aggregate time over the first 4 nights will be recognized as the Century Downs aggregate winner.  The driver will receive $5,000.00 and both driver and his 2 outriders will receive aggregate trophy buckles. 


WORLD CHAMPION 
The driver with the most season points up to and including the 4th day in Century Downs is recognized as the World Champion.  The World Champion will receive $10,000.00 and a 1 year lease on a GMC truck. 


The road to the Century Downs World Finals kicks off May 29th in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
