Century Downs is pleased to announce that the first annual Calgary Racing Festival will take place this fall.
The festival, which will run from August 6 - August 12, is intended as a celebration of the horse racing industry, a chance for racing fans and families alike to come together, and an opportunity for newcomers to immerse themselves in the sport.
AUGUST 6: INDUSTRY DAY
Ever wondered what the life of a horseman, groom and trainer is like, or how horses prepare for the
races? This is your chance to find out! Get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes sneak peek before live racing.
Bring friends and family back to the barns for tours, meet and greets with drivers and trainers, and see the horses up close. Attend workshops on how to properly groom a horse, harness equipment, the day-to-day of a horseman’s life, and more.
Afterwards, take your newfound knowledge and head back to the racetrack for an exhilarating day of live racing! Industry representatives will have booths on the Apron with more information on agriculture, charitable initiatives, and other topics about Alberta’s rich history with horse racing.
This event is free to attend — all ages welcome!
AUGUST 7: MID SUMMER CLASSIC
Throw on those fascinators and neckties and come out for a Monday afternoon of high fashion and thrilling races. The Mid Summer Classic is a day that mixes Derby-style attire, stakes races, a “Best Dressed” contest, great food, and live music on the Apron.
AUGUST 8: CHARITY BOWLING TOURNAMENT
Step up to the lane! Century Downs and Century Casino Calgary are hosting a charity bowling tournament for both serious and casual players alike! Support a fantastic cause while getting the opportunity to attend meet-and-greets with special guest players. Prizes and details to be announced.
AUGUST 10: CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
How’s your swing? Step out on the fairways and take your shot in our Charity Golf Tournament. Take this opportunity to talk industry and play with drivers as you set your eye on a hole-in-one!
Play an 18-hole tournament at the gorgeous Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie, with a 1:00 pm shotgun start. Afterwards, relax in a luxury clubhouse and enjoy a banquet dinner, with opportunities to win prizes and bid in our silent auction. All proceeds will go to the Airdrie Women’s Shelter.

AUGUST 11: CHARITY GALA
Join us for an evening of elegance! Enjoy a expertly crafted plated dinner from our Executive Chef, listen to elegant live music, and bid on some great items in a silent auction! Be inspired by an impressive keynote speaker, all while raising money for a great charity: The Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre.
Tickets are $200 per person.
AUGUST 12: WORLD DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP
Join us for the first-leg of the World Driving Championship. Watch as Brandon Campbell, representative of Canada, takes on 10 international Drivers on our track! Enjoy live music, performances and great food on the Apron!
Come early for an autograph session and meet and greet with all of the Drivers, a special parade from ASHA and the opportunity to get a good seat for the races!
